The 2014 Study "Censorship and Self-censorship in journalists and media in Venezuela" reveals that in Venezuela, express orders by state powers are frequent; however, this is not the only actor that tries to prohibit or silence journalists. Also, pressure is exerted on the part of the communication media - understood as industries - and private economic, political and organized crime groups, among others.

Periodísmo en arenas movedizas (20016)

From the principles of autonomy, plurality, and freedom of information, the Press and Society Institute of Venezuela (IPYS Venezuela) dedicated itself to constructing an X-ray of the exercise of journalism, which covered 67% of the national territory. This exercise had the participation of a group of journalists and activists from DHHH, who made this perception study possible and motivated the participation of 227 workers from the private, independent, community, and state media.
