As the creator of the podcast and blog Nuestro Estilo de Vida and author of El arte de vivir: la alegría en los pequeños detalles, I combine journalism, storytelling, and community-centered communication to create content in both English and Spanish. We Came Seeking Protection
I left Venezuela hoping to live in a country where freedom of the press, freedom of speech, and human dignity would not be abstract ideals. I remain grateful for the opportunity to seek asylum in the United States, and I continue to believe in due process and a fair legal system.
But gratitude does not erase fear, and waiting should not erase our humanity.
We came seeking protection. We are still waiting for the peace we hoped to find.
